A new objective for the Consortium for the Protection of Prosecco Doc: to achieve certified sustainability at a territorial level. Thus PRO.S.E.C.CO. was born. PDO, an acronym that stands for PROProgramma della Sostenibilità e del Controllo della COmpetitività della filiera vitivinicola Prosecco PDO, presented today 9 April at Vinitaly 2019.
This is a pilot project, financed by the Veneto PSR 2014-2020, which will provide for sustainable management of the denomination by addressing sustainability from the environmental, ethical-social and economic points of view.
The project was illustrated by the President and Director of the Consortium Stefano Zanette and Luca Giavi, who defined sustainability as an indispensable driving force for the future of the wine sector. According to the president of the Consortium, it will be a challenging but fundamental path to be competitive on international markets and will allow companies to identify any critical issues and possibilities for improvement, including cost management at company level.
